Janise Yntema

Janise Yntema is an American painter based in Brussels who works primarily with the ancestral technique of beeswax, resin and pigments. Using heat as a solvent, the artist tackles the concept of time through this slow and gentle process. The fragility that such a technique captures perfectly echoes the themes that her work addresses. They contemplate the nuance of colour and the awareness of light, evoked by her unique colour palette. As such, Janise captures the delicate state of our natural environment, whilst reflecting on the most personal of memories.

Janise trained at Parsons School of Design in New York. Having built up an international reputation, the artist now lives and practices in Brussels, Belgium.

Janise has exhibited her work extensively in solo shows in London, New York, Amsterdam and Belgium. The artist’s work has been added to prominent collections worldwide; including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and Gutenberg Museum, Germany.
