Will Scott

Shortlisted for the Arcaid Architectural Photographer of the Year award in 2016, Will Scott’s work fuses an eager and artful eye with a documentarian’s approach. Will’s absence of traditional ‘architectural’ training permits him to approach all his photographic projects with a fresh perspective. The resulting works are uniquely personal explorations of the built environment.

Will Scott’s Inspiration

Will grew up in the coastal town of North Berwick, and he has many fond childhood memories of the Cornish coast. His upbringing inspires Will’s nostalgic interest in seaside architecture and urban builds, much of which he sees as in a state of flux. The photographer’s portfolio journeys between the old and the new and, featuring historical buildings and often overlooked architectural typologies, investigates the cyclical nature of construction of place, space, community and memory. Documenting the regeneration of forgotten shelters and relics of old coastal towns, Will traverses decades of architectural development, making for works that are moving, at times hopeful, and illuminating.

Exhibitions, Projects & Clients

In 2018, Will saw his first major exhibition and authored the first book on his series ‘Seaside Shelter’. He works with a range of competitive and commercial brands and clients, including Hawkins\Brown, Stanton Williams, Buckley Gray Yeoman, Shatotto Architecture for Green Living, Cempedak Island, Mclean Quinlan, Liddicoat & Goldhill, PLP Architects, Squint/Opera, Spratley & Partners, Finkernagel Ross, Studio Fractal, iGuzzini, London Projects, Hilton Hotels and many more. The artist lives in the UK and splits his time between London and Edinburgh.
