Iris Garagnoux

Born in Paris in 1995, Iris Garagnoux is an emerging artist currently based in London. The human body, its mechanism and its plasticity are the core of Iris Garagnoux's paintings and installations. With a style that speaks to science and fine art lovers alike, Iris brings together two worlds in a curious and illuminating way.

Iris Garagnoux's Education and Practice

A graduate of Atelier de Sèvres, Paris, Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse, France, and Chelsea College of Arts, UAL, London, Iris' extensive training can be seen in her innovative prowess and attention to detail. Her abstract works are painterly and fleshy and delve into the ever-changing nature of the human body. Manipulating organic forms, striking, polarised colour palettes and provoked situations inspired by her time as a gymnast, Iris explores how the body responds to external phenomena.

Projects & Inspiration

Inspired by French philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari and their concept of "corps-sans-organe" (bodies without organs), the artist communicates through marks, gestures, and rhythms. In doing so, Iris resists any reduction of the human body to a simple organic structure and, instead, puts it through a glorious process of abstraction.

Press & Exhibitions

Listed among the Women To Watch In 2021 by the online curated platform Blue Art Advisory, Iris has indeed taken Europe by storm. Her colourful and expressive works have been exhibited in Saatchi Gallery, London (2020), Tate Britain, Online (2020), The Cookhouse Gallery, London (2019-2020) and Galerie Du Crous, Paris (2019), to name a few.
