Subversive * Socio-political * Erotik * Art * Satire. Poet, philosopher, ponce, an artist with all the subtlety of a Tomahawk missile, Francis was discovered wandering the streets of Soho after three years on the road - what he now describes as his wilderness years.
Having decided to follow his muse he began exhibiting LIKEABLE but subversive art, much of it with a socio-political content which garnered little critical acclaim but the motherf**kers sold out like Krispy KREME Doughnuts to pot heads looking for sugar. I mean who else would buy a KKD, less a snack more a weapon of mass destruction?
Francis has exhibited in numerous London venues including London Post with 60's Retro Nostalgia; Freud gallery with his DEAD Blondes series; Vexed Generation with the BARCODE Nudes set and in various other solo and GROUP shows. His current series uses images of the Daleks as a metaphor for Amerikan corporate imperialism. His illustrations are as SUBTLE as the bombing of a Baghdad marketplace - but nevertheless they have a content that is relevant.
Francis has recently published a book about a graffiti artist, politics + war set in London. Described by a critic as Tarantinoesque + profane, it is currently becoming a cult among students. The illustrations from the book are now available only from francischarlton.co.uk
His work can also be seen on francischarlton.co.uk
