Avigail Talmor is painting structures and objects which are functional by definition. Talmor disconnects the structures from their surroundings. Changes, disassembles and rebuilds the structures, the surroundings and the location into a new realistic reality. By doing this, questions of the original function of structure rise although it seems obvious. As in the check point booths series, which suppose to establish a secured surrounding, their basic existence creates the opposite feeling. Placing those booths relating to the surroundings and in relation to the format and technique, provides the objects significance of models which are painted into a portrait. The overall feeling is of an isolated and lifeless location which was supposed to serve and assist. This atmosphere raises questions about relations between the institutionalized and private, personal and public security, which are loading the structure with political ideas that are lacking time and place.
