Why should I rent art?

We know choosing artwork is a personal process & we want you love your Rise Art. So why not take it home, see what it looks like on your wall, next to that bizarre lamp your auntie gave you? Eager for a change, with rentals you can mix it up now and then, exchanging artwork at no additional cost. Renting let’s you try the work before you buy, so you can be comfortable that you’ll enjoy your artwork for years to come.

OK, but why Rise Art?

At Rise Art our independent Board of Curators selects the best emerging talent so you can be sure that the art you are getting has been vetted by art insiders - no car boot canvas here. Plus, by renting or buying art from Rise Art, you’ll be supporting talented emerging artists, with whom you can interact on the website - Follow their tweets, comment on their work, and RSVP to events and private views. Rise Art let’s you develop a greater understanding with the art you love, and follow the artist’s progress along the way.

How do I rent?

Renting is easy - Once you’ve discovered that special work, simply click on “Rent it For” button, and you’ll be taken to the checkout page. Complete the form, read & accept the Rental Agreement, and choose whether you want to purchase the Damage Waiver, and then review your order & confirm.

I see an artist I like but can only vote for them. How do I rent their works?

Only our Shortlisted artists have their work made available for sale and rent. But if you like something, vote for it! We regularly review the most popular artwork and pass that on to our independent board of curators who then shortlist the artists.

What is a secure shipping address?

No one wants to see your piece left out in the cold or rain, or stolen before you even get to love it! So please be sure to provide a delivery address where you are certain someone will be able to receive, sign for, & look after your artwork when it arrives. This may be your office, home, with a trusted friend, neighbour, or porter if you’re lucky enough to live in Chelsea.

How much does shipping cost?

Not a penny - it’s FREE!! Both ways. Really.

When will my artwork arrive?

We aim to get your work to you as soon as possible, and use DHL next day services whenever possible. But it does take some time to get the work from the artists when they or the works are off at exhibition, then properly & securely packaged before we can send it off to you. If you’re renting a work that requires framing, such as a Rise Art edition, this can add a little more time to your order. It will typically take 10 business days for your order to arrive, but never more than 30 days, in which case we will try to find you another piece you love as much or refund your money.

I placed my order but am now told the piece is unavailable. Why?

Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the availability of all of the works on the site, as we or the artists may be exhibiting the work in a show, or it may have recently been sold. Don’t worry, this just means you have excellent taste! We can let you know if the work becomes available or work with you and the artist to find another special piece.

My artwork has arrived!! What do I do now?

Yay! Open the box carefully, as you’ll need it to return the work if you don’t want to keep it, or to store it if you do. Hanging instructions are provided in the box, along with nearly everything you’ll need down to the hanging hook and nails. You will need a hammer, measuring tape, and either a spirit level or a pair or good eyes. At Rise we also ensure we have a little tipple on hand as well when doing such hard labour. Then, sit back and enjoy your piece! Remember to tuck the packaging away under the bed or at the back of your closet for later.

When does my rental period start?

Your rental period begins one business day after we send it out to you. And since we use next-day delivery, that means it should start... ∑(12+√1) = 2 … on the day you receive the work. Your rental period lasts for 30 days and will be automatically renewed unless you tell us that you’d like to return or purchase your piece.

I really love my artwork and want to keep it. What now?

Great! You can keep renting for as long as you like, and you will be billed monthly, no need to take action at all. Ready to commit and build you collection? You can purchase your artwork from your My Settings page under My Rise Art or ring us up for free on +44 (0)8455271564 and we’ll sort it out for you. You’ll even get a credit for the time you’ve rented the work toward the purchase. Once you’ve bought the work, we’ll send along your Certificate of Purchase in the post.

Do I get any credit towards buying the work?

Of course! Rise Art will credit you 50% of the amount you’ve paid in rental fees (sorry the Damage Waiver fees don’t apply) towards the purchase of your artwork, and the balance will be charged to your credit card.

I’m not loving my piece, what now?

No problem, we’ll exchange it for something new or you can just return it at no cost to you. Pop the artwork back into the box in the snug artwork-shaped hole, and seal it back up. Cancel your rental from your My Settings page or give us a ring free of charge on +44 (0)8455271564, and we’ll email you a shipping label and schedule your pick-up. Print & place the label in the window envelope provided, stick it to the outside of the box (be sure to remove or cover up any old labels), and hand it to the nice DHL man.

How long do I have to return my artwork?

You’ve got 10 business days from the time you notify us that you wish to return your piece to send the artwork back to us. We understand you’re busy, so pick a day in that window, and give us a ring to arrange the pick-up of your artwork.

What if my artwork gets damaged?

Normal wear is OK, but these starving artists need to eat from time to time, so we’ll have to charge you for any significant damage to the work. We’ll only charge you the cost of repairs, unless the art is too far gone, in which case we’ll need to charge you the retail price. Want some piece of mind? We’ve got you covered with our optional Damage Liability Waiver.

What is the Damage Liability Waiver?

The Waiver is an optional agreement between yourself and Rise Art, where, in the event that a piece is damaged, we agree to waive our right to charge you for the full amount of the costs of repair or retail price. For a small monthly fee, we’ll reduce the amount you are liable to pay in the event of accidental damage & theft (provided you supply a police report & the art isn’t left unattended during delivery or return) to the greater of 10% of the value of the work or £100.

Why doesn’t the Waiver cover me for all types of damage/the full price?

If you have contents cover in your home, you’re probably insured in the case of fire or something like a water main bursting, and we want to keep the cost to you as low as possible. As for the full price, well, we wouldn’t be in business very long if you could use your piece as a dartboard for only a fiver a month, would we? Save yourself the 10% and spend it down the pub, where they have real dartboards.

I’ve lost my box - what do I do?

Shame, shame. Give us a ring and we’ll send you out a new one. We may have to charge you for delivery and packaging costs, after all, you’re killing trees here. While we like all kinds of colours here at Rise Art, we want to encourage our customers to be green. In the future, we even hope to offer you the chance to offset the carbon emissions from transporting your artwork!

I live outside of the UK, can I still rent art?

Not yet, but we’re working on it. Our art is still available for sale to the EU, but we’re still working out the kinks for rentals to Europe.
