It's festival season again..

By Rise Art | 01 Aug 2012

It's festival season again and fast approaching is Wilderness Festival 2012, billed as a celebration of the arts and outdoors in the wilds of England. The festival takes place in Oxfordshires's Cornbury Park and features music, theatre, talks, panel debates, late night parties, outdoor pursuits and food experiences and was named as the 'Best New Festival' at the Festival Awards UK.

Rise Art's Kristjana S Williams is the featured artist for this year's event and her imaginative and dreamlike work cretes the perfect backdrop for the celebration of music, culture and nature. Using a jewel-like palette, Krisjtjana creates mythical winged creatures, part bird, part butterfly with incredible attention to detail. While being figments of her imagination, the intricate nature of Kristjana's work brings the creatures to life in a ways that is exciting and playful.  As a child, the stark landscapes of Iceland were transformed for her by tales told by her uncle that, “germinated into landscapes, creatures and wishful forests.”  This imagination flows through her work, which is injected with dramatic color and fantasy and crafted through a process that Kristjana likens to collage.

Surrounded by 1,700 acres of Britains oldest forest, Kristjana's enchanting illustrations will have found their natural home, we are very excited to see the results!
