Show Me the Monet!

Rise Art's own Kirsty O'Leary-Leeson features in episode 5..

By Rise Art | 13 Jul 2012

BBC Two's hugely popular series Show Me the Money is currently in it's second season. This year's hopefuls, battling it out for a spot in a prestigious London art exhibition and sale, include Rise Art's very own Kirsty O'Leary-Leeson who will be featured on today's episode.

A shortlist of just over a hundred was compiled from thousands of applications, all hoping for a place in the Show Me the Monet Grand Exhibition and Sale at London's Mall Galleries. Being selected for the exhibition will give the artist a potentially life changing opportunity to get their work seen – and bought – by professional art buyers and the public alike. But in order to secure a place, the shortlisted artistic contenders have to face the ‘Hanging Committee’ – a panel of judges drawn from some of the art world’s toughest critics: Charlotte Mullins, David Lee and Roy Bolton.

Never a Forever Thing by Kirsty O'Leary-Leeson

The judge's look for originality, technical skill and emotional impact, and artists need two ‘Yeses’ from the panel to get a place at the Mall galleries. We think that Kirsty's work, in which she uses the landscape that surrounds her as a metaphor for imagination and emotion and describes as "not drawings from life, but drawings of life; drawing the relation between the visible and the invisible" will definitely make an impact on the panel!

We will definitely be watching, make sure you catch Kirsty in today's episode and follow the action in the next few weeks!
