This was a self initiated project for the exhibition titled 'Silent Spaces' This project is an exploration into a silent space. A space that would normally be filled with people and with sound, but remains empty and silent. I was interested in capturing the contrast between the room empty and the room full. This was a self initiated project for the exhibition titled 'Silent Spaces' This project is an exploration into a silent space. A space that would normally be filled with people and with sound, but remains empty and silent. I was interested in capturing the contrast between the room empty and the room full. The empty space reverberates with music once played, past conversations and an energy that is now absent. I was fascinated with how the space manages to feel empty and full at the same time. The instruments, the floor and the walls all hold within them the character of a room that has so often been a meeting place for musician and audience, friends and family and amazingly anyone who happened to find themselves welcomed. These photographs explore the negative space, the opposite of what we would normally associate with this space and the absent human and musical energy.
