    Justine Smith's works focus attention on the influence of money in political and social spheres. Along with her famous maps, guns and arms are a recurring motif, inevitably raising questions about the controversial and lucrative trade.

    Paper and power collide in the work of Justine Smith. She's one of a wave of British artists who have established paper as a newly important medium. Smith uses paper cutting to examine the concept of money through series such as Money Maps and Chocolate Money.

    The banknote, which is just a piece of paper, represents some of the biggest ideas which underpin our society, and affect everyone's lives. The note also has a physical beauty that Smith explores through cutting and folding. She transforms our relationship to these symbols of power.
