The Arcade paintings each represent a small incident enlarged, incidents which derive from the Shadowbox series. They are like fragments, and an exercise in trying to repeat something that first happened by accident. The result is that they are quite varied, ranging from heavy blocked-out colour to translucent layered mark-making and textured surface.
